Lifeproof Cases

Most new flagship smartphones have a high level of dust and water resistance, but it is still made of glass panels. LifeProof has four case options to enhance your level of protection your phone has: Fre, Next, Slam, Flip (currently Flip is only for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max).

LifeProof Fre is the complete protective case for your phone. Fre adds an integrated front-screen protector and more seals for waterproof protection. In fact with your device in a Fre case it is waterproof for up to two meters for an hour.

The new LifeProof Next is the mid-level model of the LifeProof brand with Next is designed to be dropproof, dirtproof, and snowproof.

The LifeProof Slam cases are focused just on drop protection. The Flip is a new style of wallet case from Lifeproof.

Lifeproof Fre Case

Lifeproof Fre Case

You can get the LifeProof Fre case from us that has an integrated front-screen protector and more seals for waterproof protection of up to two meters for an hour. If you take your handset on holiday to the beach or you regularly visit the pool, or if you visit the snowy mountains during the winter then you’d want full protection for your smartphone and you should buy the Fre.

LifeProof Fre cases are available in six colour varitiess: Night Lite (all black with lime green highlights), Drop In (mint, gray, and lime green), Wipeout (couple shades of mint and pink highlights), Chakra (purples and pink), Banzai (blues and lime green), and Fire Run (reds and gray highlights). I tested out the Banzai one, which is a close match to my Seattle Seahawks colours.

The additional interior O-ring seals, and the Fre case’s front plastic cover both raise the dust and water protection provided to IP68 and this comes with MIL-STD 810G drop protection.

In the past, these Fre cases with the integrated plastic screen protectors seemed to detract from the touch experience but with newer versions of Fre we have not experienced any issues. LifeProof has done stellar piece of work with this design.

On the back of the Fre case is a clear window the Apple logo should you buy one for your iPhone, which is nice.

Wireless charging works perfectly with your phone in a Fre case. We have not noticed any impact on camera performance either.

It’s delightful to note that LifeProof has created such a high level of protection in a case without making it overly bulky. With a Fre case your phone is larger but still pocketable, and very much protected.

Lifeproof Flip Series  Cases

Lifeproof Flip Case

This heavy-duty case from LifeProof isn’t your typical wallet-style case. While there is a wallet flap, it doesn’t close over the screen like a wallet folio case.

If you prefer a wallet flip style of case then consider the LifeProof FliP Series iPhone Case. This is a new case, only available for the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max. It comes in three colourss: Dark Night (Black/Grey), Cement Surfer (Blue/Slate), Water Lily (Light Blue/Green).

Rather than a typical wallet portfolio action, the Flip case has a back that flips open. When closed the flip section is held closed magnetically.

The fabric flap has three slots for credit cards  etc, and another longer slot behind them for cash.

There is a space between the slots and the back of the iPhone. The flap has a large section cutout to allow for the the camera. You can flip the flap all the way around and use it as a kickstand for watching videos.

Lifeproof Next Case

Lifeproof Next Case

The new LifeProof Next case consists of two pieces that snap tightly together to seal in your phone. The back is of the Next case is composed rigid clear plastic that extends up to the four sides to hold your device securely in place.

The front piece of the Next case has clear plastic and coloured softer material that fits over the top of your handset.

After placing the phone into the back piece, this top part locks in place with a snap. Ensure to go all around each edge as you should hear a clicking as the front snaps in place. The coloured material is available in black, gray, mint, and pink.

There is a small switch for the ringer to select mute so make sure that is positioned correctly.

The Next case has raised buttons for the volume and right side button with a door covering the charging port.

There is no cover on the front of this case, so if you want to protect your screen, then you should consider the Fre case or use a tough glass screen guard.

Most new phones have an IP67 dust and water resistant rating and if your device does then you could drop your device in this case in the water, but obviously avoid that when possible.

The LifeProof Next case is thin for a protective case, and this shows that you do not have to double the thickness of your handset to get a decent level of protection.

Lifeproof Slam Series

Lifeproof Slam Cases

The Slam is LifeProof’s entry level case. LifeProof’s Slam cases are also thin and are drop-rated to two metres. The Slam is one of the tough cases that lets you to show the colour of your phone. LifeProof SLAM is one of the slimmest cases that we have seen.

The Slam feels solid and it seems like it can withstand some tough drops. The back of the case being clear is a great point and shows off the colour of your smartphone.

The LifeProof states that the Slam is drop-rated to 6.6 feet or two metres and offers better dust  protection competing cases.
