A recent article in the tech source The Elec says Samsung would cut down production from about 25 million devices per month to only 10 million units during the month of April. This source quotes an anonymous source to suggest that ongoing Covid-19 Iockdowns as well as the shutting of production facilities in India as well as in Brazil are the main causes for the contraction of output.
The company believes output will be normalized during the month of May when both the India and Brazil plants resume manufacturing. Although, even though this lockdown has already been extended in India till the third of May and Covid 19 cases are increasing in these two countries, the anticipated return to normal may be longer than what the company believes.
However, there is a silver lining for Samsung. Their sales projections for the Galaxy S20 Ultra are beating all market predictions with sales believed to reach 6 million units through the year when compared to the predicted numbers 3.5 to 5.25 million smartphones.
